Giedo unbeatable for Barwa Addax in Jerez testing

He may have had only one day of testing at his disposal in Jerez but Giedo van der Garde showed that he's not only one of the fastest drivers in GP2, but that he also has a phenomenal ability to adapt himself to a new car.

In the morning session, the Dutchman set a time of 1:25.291 on the southern Spanish circuit to leave the competition scratching their heads. He would remain in the top spot throughout the day.

After a strong second half of his first GP2 season, in which he won three races for iSport, Giedo was asked by the Barwa Addax team to test for them at Jerez de la Frontera. The team was contending for the championship in 2009 and so Giedo was naturally eager to attempt a run in the car.

He didn't disappoint. "This was a very good day, very positive," he said. "We managed to maximize our track time; we were very quick this morning and in the afternoon we focussed on the long runs - it all went very well and the team was very happy with my performance and my feedback.

"The Barwa Addax car is very good and almost immediately I could do whatever I wanted with it - the car suits my driving style very much, so I'm very satisfied." McGregor
