Final GP2 Series Winter test session at the Paul Ricard HTTT

All GP2 Series teams realised new collective winter test on the Paul Ricard HTTT 3D track solution (3.853 km) during 2 days.

As they did in last month's test, the main objective of the GP2 Series teams was to test new drivers for the forthcoming 2007 season. This 2- day test session allowed a few young drivers to make their debuts at the wheel of Renault V8 and to try to participate at the GP2 Series next year.

During this two test days, the teams completed over 11500 km and Franche driver Franck Perera (Durango) set the overall best lap time in 1:13.595. Results of the session are available in the attached pdf document.

The drivers encountered different weather conditions as they had grey sky and clouds (and some little rain) on Tuesday, while a strong Mistral wind with great sunshine was blowing on the Castellet plateau on Wednesday.

Team Art Grand Prix did not take part at this test session after the sudden loss of engineer Steeve Marcel. All the thoughts of the Paul Ricard HTTT team are with the GP2 Series' team and especially with ART Grand Prix and with Steeve's family and friends at this difficult time.

New collective GP2 Series tests will take place in Jerez and Valencia by the end of year.
