DPR ON FORM AT PAUL RICARD

David Price Racing (DPR) showed they have the capabilities to run at the front in testing at Paul Ricard today. Luca Filippi piloted one of DPR's GP2 racers today and by the end of the two sessions produced third quickest lap, with Michael Herck in the second DPR car showing improvement to finish 10th fastest.

The two day test began yesterday with the DPR team giving young British racer, Will Bratt, his first chance to sample the GP2 machine and the youngster surprised many at the test with his pace. By the end of the day Bratt, a 20-year-old Oxford University undergraduate, had posted 13th fastest lap. DPR regular driver, Herck, showed good pace in the morning with 8th quickest lap, dropping to 20th in the afternoon while working on different set up options.

The second and final day of testing saw Herck joined by Filippi and both drivers were quickly on the pace, with Filippi sixth fastest and Herck just 0.05 seconds behind with ninth quickest lap. In the afternoon both drivers continued to make improvement, with Filippi up to third before putting on new tyres for a simulated qualifying run, only to be faced with red flags that ended his attempt to top the timesheets. Herck demonstrated his potential with tenth fastest lap, before torrential rain forced DPR to change to wet tyres and work on wet weather set up.

David Price, Team Principal, DPR, said of the test, "We've had two good days in Paul Ricard. Yesterday we gave Will the chance to try out a GP2 car. It was a big step up from his current race car in the Spanish F3 championship, but he handled it extremely well and impressed us with how quickly he settled in and the lap times he was turning.

"Michael has worked hard over the last two days and I think we've seen how he has raised his game. He's been improving throughout this season, and I think he's shown this week the pace that he has. He should be able to take this momentum through to the GP2 Asia Series.

Price concludes, "Today Luca took over the driving duties from Will and provided us with a benchmark, as well as working with Michael to continue his learning curve. Luca's pace proves that we are on a par with the other GP2 teams and can mix it with them, so that gives us a reassurance that we have the infrastructure, the personnel and the organisation that can deliver results."

The DPR team now heads to Shanghai, China for the first round of the GP2 Asia Series, with a pre-season test session at this circuit the week prior to the event, October 8 - 9, with the first two races taking place from October 18 - 19. The GP2 Series post-season tests continue at the end of October with a two day test in Jerez, Spain from October 29 - 30.
