LOPEZ SETS 3rd QUICKEST TIME OF PAUL RICARD TEST ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON SESSION
Paul Ricard circuit , 10th March 2005 -- The second test of the new GP2 car ended today at Paul Ricard after 3 days of intensive work. DAMS is leaving the High Tech Test Track with 3rd fastets time set by Jose-Maria Lopez Thursday afternoon.
Jean-Paul Driot, CEO of DAMS : "This second test was very important because it was a kind of transition between getting familiar with the car, fix the minor problems of reliability of a brand new single seater and start to work on performance and set up. We really started to test several solutions on the car yesterday, before we focused on reliability. Fairuz has done a very good job during the first 2 days, we were impressed by his ability to jump the huge step between Formula 3 and GP2. Jose-Maria was sick, yesterday we could not imagine he would be able to drive the car a long time today so this 3rd fastest time brings satisfaction to all the team. We have now 3 weeks to prepare the next test, there is a lot of work to be done but with 2 cars on track for each team there should be huge progress in April."
Jose-Maria Lopez : "This morning we had problems to find new solutions, but the team reacted very well. For me it is a good day because 24 hours ago I was at the doctor's and today I drove 100 laps. Our goal was to do a lot of laps today and test set up solutions, we have done good progress. The level is very high, I am delighted to drive in the GP2 Series and I am looking forward the next test."
