British Formula 3 championship leader Mike Conway will make his GP2 Series debut at the next round in Silverstone, at DPR Direxiv in place of Frenchman Oliver Pla. Pla injured his wrist more severely than was originally believed. He started the race at Monaco in pain following a qualifying accident with Ernesto Viso's car; the Venezuelan bounced off the barriers at Ste. Devote and into Pla. Pla joins Nicolas Lapierre on the sidelines this weekend, but should return to his seat for an official GP2 test session at Paul Ricard in mid-June.

Conway, a young British prodigy, has two victories this year in British F3 at Donington and Pau. He currently leads the standings by seven markers over Bruno Senna. Conway has experience after testing for David Price Racing during the off season, and this marks his first opportunity to race one of these Dallara-Renault GP2 cars, at his home track no less. "It'll be a great experience racing at an F1 weekend, particularly at the British Grand Prix," Conway said. "I like the Silverstone GP circuit - it flows nicely, with some extremely fast corners, which will be exciting to take with the extra power."

The next two Formula One races are at Montreal and Indianapolis respectively so GP2 has a long break until their next race in mid-July, at Magny-Cours in France. The next round of the British F3 series is at Mondello Park in Ireland, on June 25, where Conway plans to resume his championship charge.
