Barcelona, Race 2: Hirate recovers to score 10th place, Maldonado hit on last lap.
Kohei Hirate ended up in 10th the second GP2 Race of the weekend at Catalunya. The Japanese driver progressively increased the feeling with his Dallara, battling all-race long his way back to the top-10. Maldonado put on a great show, passing several cars after taking off from pit-lane, but was hit from behind during last lap, being unable to see the checkered flag.
Alessandro Alunni Bravi - Team Principal "All in all, this was a positive day for us, even though we didn`t met the results we deserved. Hirate was consistently fast and aggressive, fighting with experienced drivers like Zuber and Pantano. Right after the start, he was forced to go off-track to avoid a stalled car, but in the end I`m quite satisfied with him. Pastor Maldonado had a problem at the end of his formation lap, with Mike Conway taking his spot in error, and stalled the engine. Even starting from the pits, the Venezuelan made a combative attempt to get back on top. Unfortunately, the ending wasn`t an happy one, as Pastor got hit from behind and sent into the barriers on last lap. Anyway, he did an excellent job, and we hope to score our first points of 2007 at Montecarlo".
