Another third for Di Grassi in Spain

Lucas di Grassi secured his second third place of the weekend in the Sunday GP2 race at Barcelona. The Renault Driver Development squad member thus earned 10 points in the course of the weekend with the ART entry, and lies fourth in the championship.

Lucas started sixth on the reverse grid, but the car immediately ahead of him stalled and caused an abort. That Lucas him up to fifth for the second attempt, and he took full advantage of the clear track ahead to blast past three other cars and claim second place as the field dived into the first corner.

Unfortunately he locked up under braking, and flat-spotting the tyres made his life difficult for the rest of the 25-lap event. Lucas lost second place to Timo Glock, and then spent the rest of the race chasing Javier Villa while also holding off Saturday winner and fellow Brazilian Bruno Senna.

"The start was really good, apart from the first corner, where I braked too hard and flat-spotted my tyres. That meant that the balance was not quite perfect for the rest of the race, and the car was vibrating a lot. It was not possible to fight with Glock, he was faster without any doubt, but I was still able to fight with Villa and Senna. These are the first two podium finishes for me and for ART this year. I cannot complain, because we got 10 points this weekend. The team is doing a very good job and the engineers are working very well."

The next race is at Monaco, where Lucas set fastest lap last year.

"I did the fastest lap in the race there last year, but I had a shunt with piquet so I only finished 10th. I really like racing at street circuits, like Macau. I think there should be more of them! I'm looking forward to it, and driving a GP2 car there is awesome. I hope I can fight for the pole there this year."
