THE BARWA CAMPOS TEAM DRIVER ON THE PODIUM AGAIN.

ROMAIN GROSJEAN 2ND AND VITALY PETROV 9TH

It was a good performance from the Barwa Campos Team in the second GP2 race, which took place this morning, with Romain Grosjean finishing second and Vitaly Petrov in ninth. The team has a very healthy lead in both driver and team categories.

Romain made a flying start and by the first corner he had already overtaken four of his rivals from his eighth placed start. He pushed hard in the early laps and managed to move up to second. From that point on he decided to tuck in behind the leader without taking too many risks. Grosjean tried several times to take the lead but in the last laps it was clear that he had to conserve his tyres, so he decided to accept second position.

Vitaly also made a quick start but as he was unable to find any gaps at the start he found himself caught up in the middle of the main group of drivers. The start in Montmelo is crucial because if you get stuck in traffic, it is very difficult to overtake on this circuit.Vitaly couldn't demonstrate the true potential of his car and he was dragged into various battles. It was a shame that he had no compensation for his tremendous efforts.

It has been a truly magnificent weekend for the team managed by Alejandro Agag. Recent signing Romain Grosjean is overall leder in the drivers rankings with 18 points, 8 points clear of his closest rival. Vitaly Petrov lies in fourth on 8 points. In the team championship the Barwa Campos Team is way out in front with 26 points, 13 ahead of the second placed team.

The next race takes place in the Principality of Monaco on the 22nd and the 23rd of May.
