PIT ERROR COSTS TOP PLACE FINISH

It was a frustrating weekend for Great Britain's Adam Carroll as misunderstanding between him and the team cost them a top place finish. He came home in 11th place. An injury to the team manager in pit stop practice on Friday night left him with his leg in a cast and Spanish team Racing Engineering without a lollipop man to direct the driver into the pit box.

As a result Carroll, 23, from Portadown in Northern Ireland missed his pit- stop when he entered the crowded pit lane. Several laps later he eventually made his stop with the help of direction from the team but re-emerged in 19th position. It was certainly not the way that he and Racing Engineering wanted to entertain the team's home fans or sponsors Telefonica and Repsol.

"As I came into the pit lane I could see everyone else but not my own team. I was shouting on the radio but it was too late and I had to come through again a few laps later," said an angry Carroll. "Unfortunately it was just a misunderstanding in communications. It won't happen again, that's for sure. We will make sure we get the results we deserve in tomorrow morning's race."

Tomorrow's race is a 26 lap sprint race and starts at 10am.
