Barwa Addax Team really hoping to shine in Marina Bay

The penultimate event in the 2013 GP2 Series takes place this weekend at the Marina Bay Street circuit in Singapore. Barwa Addax Team is very confident coming in to this Grand Prix and are hoping that their official drivers Jake Rosenzweig and Rio Haryanto will put their bad luck behind them and get the kind of results that both of them have worked really hard for and that are well and truly deserved.

The Street circuit at Marina Bay has the characteristic of having the second greatest number of bends of all circuits, 23 to be exact, although it would be true to say that two of them are high speed bends. The other important factor to take into consideration is the high temperatures and the extreme levels of humidity which can easily affect the performance of both cars and drivers.

Pirelli have decided to introduce the softest of their range of tyres. P Zero yellow soft and P zero Red supersoft, which have been selected for this event. The team will have to study their strategies very well to get the most out of their tyres and take into account that this is the season’s longest pit stop. The circuit is also notoriously difficult to overtake, which makes the qualification more important than ever. Depending how the teams take advantage of their tyre choice will go a long way towards which team takes the spoils this weekend.

This is the only event on the calendar where the race is at a completely different local time to the rest. As this is only the second time that the GP2 has raced here, the drivers are more evenly matched due to the fact that all of them have very little experience of the circuit. Last season Jake Rosenzweig finished halfway up the field in both races. After having been high up in qualification and well placed among the leaders in Monza, Jake hopes to play an important part in this weekend’s proceedings, convinced that the team has the capacity to do well and that they deserve a good result. In the same event last year Rio Haryanto managed to pick up points in the first of the two races and was close to a points scoring position in the sprint race. After having finished in among the points in Italy, Haryanto hopes to at least score some more points in this Asian GP where he will for sure have support from numerous fans. How he would love to give them something to smile about.

The timetable for the Singapore Grand Prix will be at local time GMT + 8.

On Friday the 20th September, the Free Practice takes place at 16.45 hrs and the Qualification session at 20,00 hrs. The first race will be competed for over 28 laps of the 5.065 urban circuit, covering a total distance of 141.820 metros. The longer race starts at 16.05 hrs, Saturday 21st. The second race gets under way on Sunday at 16.10 hrs covering 20 laps of the Marina Bay street circuit.
