Manama, 13 September 2005: The winner of the 2005 GP2 Drivers' Championship shall remain a mystery until the chequered flag is waved in the second of two races in Bahrain on September 30. There are just three points separating the top two drivers in the race to receive the inaugural GP2 Drivers' Championship crown, both Nico Rosberg and Heikki Kovalainen are in for a riveting head to head battle.

Rosberg heads the pack of possible future Formula One stars by three points, on 102, while his extremely reliable ART Grand Prix team lead the Constructors' Championship by an unattainable margin. Rosberg, 20, is the son of previous F1 Champion Keke Rosberg and is following in his father's footsteps admirably.

Rosberg had a slow start to the season, however once he became accustomed to the car there has been no stopping him, claiming his first GP2 victory in the fifth round at the Magny Cours Circuit in France - he beat the field convincingly, setting the fastest lap by over a second. He followed this triumph with a win in race one at Silverstone, England, and then went on to gain victory the following weekend in front of his home crowd at Hockenheim.

Kovalainen is meanwhile only three points behind Rosberg, waiting to take advantage of any mistake made by the German in the final two races of the season at Bahrain. He himself has had a fantastic season, claiming more victories than any other driver including winning the first ever GP2 race at San Marino. In addition he's won the European, French, Turkish and Italian races.

The championship is hanging in the balance with just Bahrain between one of these two fantastic young competitors and GP2's inaugural Drivers' Championship. Martin Whitaker, General Manager of the BIC, commented; "It's an honour to be hosting the final, deciding round of the season. There are plenty of exciting and confident drivers within this Championship and the two leading the way, Kovalainen and Rosberg, certainly look as though a place in Formula One awaits them. The people of Bahrain will get a fantastic opportunity to watch both drivers fight it out for the title at the Bahrain International Circuit on September 29th and 30th ."
