Entertainment Aplenty as Rosberg Writes the Script

Manama, 30 September 2005: The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) today hosted the final round of the 2005 GP2 Championship series. Thursday saw Nico Rosberg wrap up the Drivers' Championship; however supporters and fans were not deterred by this as over 6,500 flocked to the Circuit to be a part of this wonderful event and helped create a lively, family atmosphere.

Nico Rosberg won the feature event on the track - the final race of the GP2 Championship, taking his tally of victories to five for the season. The race provided real excitement to the onlooking crowd, with a number of spectacular overtaking moves from both members of the Arden International team, Rosberg and Premat. Everyone; drivers and spectators alike enjoyed an extremely successful weekend.

As well as picking up the inaugural Driver's Championship this weekend, Nico Rosberg created another slice of history by becoming the first driver to record two race wins in a single weekend in the GP2 Series. Venezuelan driver Ernesto Viso was leading most of the way, however lost out to Rosberg in a remarkable show of overtaking which ensured his name would be etched into the record books for the second day in succession.

There was just as much entertainment being served up off the track, however, with daring displays from the Red Bull Freestyle Motorbike Riders, a custom car show, passenger rides in the latest Caterhams as well as trips out on the BIC's Adventure Drive Arabia Off-Road track in the circuit's fleet of Hummers. The crowd were also invited to meet, and have memorabilia signed by, the leading GP2 Series drivers.

Martin Whitaker, General Manager of the BIC, said of the weekends' events, "It has been an incredible weekends' racing, everywhere you looked on the track drivers where fighting for position, overtaking and generally putting on a brilliant show for the spectators." He added, "Our records show that over 8,000 visited the circuit over the two days, and I honestly believe that each and every one of those will have had a truly memorable time"
