Ocean Racing Technology en route to Malaysia

GP2 Asia will share Sepang paddock with F1

The coming weekend will see the penultimate round of the GP2 Asia Series take place at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia where the Ocean Racing Technology team will put their trust in the same driver line up that has been in place since the start of the season. Yelmer Buurman and Fabrizio Crestani's mission will be to continue development that commenced in earlier races, making it possible for the Portuguese team to prove its constant progression since its arrival in the series.

For Tiago Monteiro, finishing in the top ten in Qatar is an good indicator of the progress achieved by the team and a good basis to continue their rise in Malaysia, on the very selective Sepang circuit. "The GP2 Asia Series has been really important for the team, to help us find good rhythm and consistency. It is important to underline that we entered the championship in its second round and that the second race in Bahrain was cancelled because of torrential rain. This means we did not put under the mileage under our belt that we wanted to for the team's foundation. Sepang will therefore be our third race weekend and our aim is to find a good rhythm and to try some solutions that could be useful in the GP2 Main Series. To secure some points in Malaysia would be proof that we are on the right track. Soon after Malaysia we will head to Bahrain, which is the last round of the championship. This means the opportunities to improve the car in such a short time are really slim," Tiago Monteiro said.

Parallel with work specific to the GP2 Asia Series, Ocean Racing Technology continued its preparation for the GP2 Main Series during a three day pre season testing session in Barcelona recently. Tiago Monteiro and Jose Guedes' team was strong and always amongst the best during the test setting some of the best lap times with Alvaro Parente while Karun Chandhok was constantly improving his car's performance.

Practice and qualifying session for the GP2 Asia Series will be held at Sepang on Friday April 3rd. The first race will be run over 180km (33 laps) on Saturday April 4th, the second (120km, 22 laps) on Sunday April 5th. Both races will be broadcasted on Eurosport 2, delayed at 8H45.
