First point for Al Fardan as the rain pours in Malaysia....

GFH team iSport driver Hamad Al Fardan scored his first ever GP2 points in today's Sprint Race at the Sepang International Circuit. The race was started under the safety car after a torrential downpour and thunderstorm hit the circuit before the race was due to start, delaying the race by 30 minutes.

Bahraini driver Al Fardan started the race from 9th but drove a mature race in difficult conditions to finish 5th and become the first Bahraini driver to score points in a GP2 race. GFH team iSport driver Giedo van der Garde drove a solid race to finish 10th, an impressive drive as his GP2 car was suffering from a misfire throughout the race due to water in the electrics from the torrential rain.

The GP2 Asia Series now moves onto Bahrain in two weeks time for the final round of the season where GFH team iSport driver Hamad Al Fardan will be looking to continue his good form in front of his home crowd.
