Atrocious weather conditions combined with poor circuit conditions to create a farcical second GP2 Asia race at the Sentul Circuit. In fact only 6 of the scheduled 31 laps took place under racing conditions, the other 25 taking place behind the safety car.

Starting from 21st on the grid, Danish racer Christian Bakkerud was totally frustrated with the events - “It was completely impossible to see a thing in the race today with the rain and the track being so dirty. I started 21st and completed the race in 14th. In the very few race laps we had I overtook two cars and on both occasions it was contact. The first one with a car I truly don’t know who it was, which deranged my steering by about 30 degrees. Despite this I could continue and funnily enough the next overtaking manoeuvre, this time with Steven Jelley, resulted in contact but this time it straightened my steering! It wasn’t really a race and there was no satisfaction in recording my finish.”

The next round of the GP2 Asia series supports the Formula One Grand Prix and takes place at Sepang, Malaysia on the 22nd and 23rd of March.
