GOOD FINAL TEST DAY FOR SCUDERIA COLONI IN ABU DHABI
GP2 testing is over in Abu Dhabi, where the teams got more track time on the same circuit configuration they will use in the forthcoming GP2 Asia debut race.
Scuderia Coloni kept following the planned schedule, working in particular on race simulations with used tyres. Michael Herck closed the day with the 13th time in 1'36"716, while James Jakes stopped the clock on 1'37"326. Both laptimes were posted with old tyres, as the red flags interrupted the attempts on new rubber in the last available hour.
Now, after 4 intense days of track work, the team will have two days for a deep analysis of the gathered data, with the immediate opportunity to make the most of it, as the Free Practice and Qualifying for the first race of the season are set for next Thursday. Race 1 will then start on Friday, February 11 at 12.55, while Race 2 is planned for Saturday at 1.05 PM.
Paolo Coloni: "We were looking forward to this first real testing opportunity with the 2011 package, and we are very satisfied with the outcome of the four days. We did a very good job with both the qualifying trim and the race simulations, and until Thursday we'll keep analysing the data. Everybody in the team is eager to get back to racing after a lot of work away from the track during last winter".
