Asia: Scuderia Coloni Abu Dhabi test day 2 report

DEVELOPMENT WORK FOR SCUDERIA COLONI IN ABU DHABI

Second day of testing on the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, and again the GP2 teams had to face the Emirates' strange weather. After sandstorms and rain, it was time for fog in the early morning, forcing everybody in the garages for one hour.

When visibility came back, Scuderia Coloni had the possibility to carry forward the development work started yesterday, focusing on the behaviour of the car with different aero configurations and with high fuel loads, going for race simulations.

This meant that laptimes were not relevant, with James Jakes and Michael Herck closing with 1'50"129 and 1'50"566 respectively; gathering data was the priority and the team got very important infos on some key aspects of both the car and the tyres, a knowledge that will be very useful during the season.

The only bad news of the day was a crash for James Jakes in the last minutes of the afternoon session, anyway with no consequences at all for the driver.

Paolo Coloni: "I'm very satisfied with our job today, considering both the big amount of data we gathered and the pace we had in the race simulation, which was really good. Unfortunately we couldn't use new tyres as the session was stopped when James crashed, but things like this can happen when a driver is trying to do his best".
