Thursday, January 28, 2010 - After the press conference hosted in the presence of Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA Vice President and President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE Malaysian motorsports ambassadors Malaysia.QI-Meritus.Mahara.com responded to the invitation of the Millennium School in Qusais, Dubai, the Chrysler Group Middle East and the Emirates Driving institute staged for US rising star Alexander Rossi.
Since its foundation Malaysian motorsports ambassadors Malaysia.QI-Meritus.Mahara.com has always taken a serious approach to its corporate social responsibility through a number of projects. These projects have always been related to the world of motor sport. In Dubai, upon the invitation of the Millennium School in Dubai, the team agreed to promote an important road safety initiative in collaboration with the Emirates Driving Institute.
"The campaign "Road Safety Demonstration" represents an extraordinary experience for team MalaysiaQI-MeritusMaharaGP.com that shows the serious approach to its corporate social responsibility.
Peter Thompson, President and team founder said: " Road Safety is an important challenge. It is our daily job for a team to make the driver safe: Whether his carbon-fiber helmet, his seat-belts, the hands and neck device and collar that protects the driver, the survival cell or even the car chassis, the brake systems. Everything on a car is safety oriented basically. We wanted to associate with our driver Alexander Rossi in showing that safety is also part of our job as a racing team. Alexander Rossi was himself the Ambassador of the State of California (USA) highway Patrol "the impact program" whose goal is teaching kids the responsibility of wearing their seatbelts. This Dubai Driving campaign allows us to be very convincing and to completely get to know the project. We are very pleased to have been invited by the students of the Millennium School, the Dubai based school that brings a real difference to drivers' education. At The Millennium School students achieve excellence in an atmosphere that is both encouraging and challenging. I am also pleased that Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge Middle East are also associated to the campaign.
Driving Institute development Manager, Mr. Robert Hodges said: "EDI is proud to be associated with MalaysiaQI-MeritusMaharaGP.com GP2 Asia team in this valuable initiative, which aims at promoting safer motoring and reducing accident casualties and deaths within all road user sectors, but especially with regard to children and young adults. EDI will be advising the students at The Millennium School in the proper use of seatbelts, head restraints and how to sit in a safe place within their family vehicles. Many people do not realize what happens and the harm caused inside a vehicle to its occupants in the event of even a relatively minor collision. By following recommended basic everyday safety procedures before they set off on a journey, everyone can benefit from a reduced risk of injury or death." Said Mr. Robert Hodges Development Manager from Emirates Driving Institute.
John Rodencal, Managing Director, Chrysler Group Middle East said: "All Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models feature the very latest in safety and security technology avaiable for commercial vehicles, and as a company we are strongly committed to continued development of new active and passive safety innovations. As a result, many of our models have earned top safety pick ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the USA along with 5-star driver and rear-passenger ratings for side-impact protection, the highest ratings in the US government's safety crash test program. These are great achievements in a market that is renowned for its stringent safety criteria. We employ a two-fold safety approach - this uses conventional safety features, including pre-tensioning, constant-force seat-belt retractors, tyre pressure monitors, anti-lock brakes, driver and passenger air bags with supplemental side-curtain air bags and high-intensity discharge headlamps - combined with accident-avoidance features, including our unique rear cross path, minivan-exclusive blind-spot monitoring, electronic stability control, electronic-roll mitigation and trailer-sway control. And, of course, all of our vehicles feature the LATCH child seat anchor system, which allows for easy installation of compatible aftermarket child seats. Additional security features such as Sentry Key engine immobilizer, provide the ultimate in vehicle-theft protection.
