After the Christmas break, the GP2 Asia Series resumes its programme this weekend at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain, for the third round of six in this year's GP2 Asia series.

This week will be the first of the two dates that Javier Villa and the rest of competitors of the GP2 Asia series will have at the Bahrain track, which will be also the venue for the last event of the championship at the end of April, coinciding with the running of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in the Middle Eastern country.

After the eventful weekend at Dubai, which could not be completed due to an unexpected rain storm that flooded the track and forced the suspension of the Sunday race, the GP2 Asia Series is due to recover its normal pace on the technical Sakhir circuit, a track that Javier Villa knows from his second season in the GP2 Series, when it was the setting for the inaugural race meeting of the championship.

The Spanish driver, competing in the Asian with British team SuperNova, comes to Bahrain classified fourth in the championship, thanks to the 10 points scored in both of Shangai's races. Javi is expecting to add as many more points as possible in the two races be run in Bahrain, the Feature race that will take place on Friday and the Sprint that will be held on Saturday. Thursday will see free and official practice taking place, the latter deciding the grid for the first of the two races due at the third round of the 2008-2009 GP2 Asia Series.
