BRITON BRATT AIMING TO MAKE GP2 BREAKTHROUGH AT F1 SUPPORT EVENT

Banbury racing driver Will Bratt is eagerly anticipating the finale of the current GP2 Asia Series at Bahrain International Circuit next weekend, 13th/14th March -- the prestigious support event to the first Grand Prix of the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship season.

Marking a rapid return to the Sakhir track, which hosted the previous GP2 Asia race meeting a week ago, the 21-year-old aims to conclude the championship with a breakthrough performance in-front of the F1 team bosses having delivered an assured account of himself last time out.

Since graduating to GP2 just prior to the start of the current campaign after winning the Party Poker Racing Euroseries 3000 Championship -- and with it the Italian Formula 3000 crown -- Will has shown great determination and a series of strong performances. Indeed, his first top 10 finish in GP2 only went begging last time out after contact from another driver forced him out of round six.

Although next weekend's action will take place on a slightly different track configuration to that experienced by the GP2 Asia runners previously, Will is aiming to hit the ground running and hopes to push for a career-best result at the wheel of his Party Poker Racing.com Scuderia Coloni car.

"Next weekend is going to be a real highlight event for me and I'm very hopeful we'll be able to finish the GP2 Asia Series on a high", said Will, "It'll be fantastic to race in front of the F1 teams again and I think we showed during the previous two rounds we've been getting progressively more competitive with each event.

"We were very unfortunate to be taken out of the second race in Bahrain last weekend, I'd been able to look after my tyres well and we were in a strong position to push for a top 10 finish at the very least. That's my target for next weekend's season finale, we'll certainly be trying hard."

Rounds seven and eight of the 2009/2010 GP2 Asia Series will take place next weekend, 13th/14th March, at Bahrain International Circuit in support of the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Live television coverage of both GP2 encounters will be screened in the UK on digital satellite and cable channel British Eurosport 2. Please check listings for up-to-the-minute details.
