After taking part in the official GP2 series presentation yesterday on the High Tech Test Track at Paul Ricard, the ART Grand Prix team took part in the two qualifying sessions that were to decide the numbers given to the 24 cars in the 2005 season, the first ever.

Nico Rosberg did very well in his qualifying group by being the only driver to go under 1''20'00, while Alexandre worked wonders behind the wheel of Nico's car, his not being used due to electronic problems. The track was faster during the second session, and Nico ended up fifth on aggregate time. The two Dallara Renaults owned by the ART Grand Prix will therefore wear numbers 9 and 10 this season.

Frederic Vasseur: Nico did a very good job to end his session in the lead, despite various persisting electronic problems. Alex hardly hit the track in the last couple of days and had to climb into Nico's car to do his 30 minute qualifying session. In these conditions, I am thrilled with his time and work: he is only 0.2 seconds behind someone like Pantano and I am very happy with this result. We are now heading to the Barcelona track for the last test before the beginning of the season in Imola at the end of April. Above all we really need to be reliable!

Nico Rosberg (1st Session 1, 1.19.979): I am glad to be the fastest in my session, but 30 minutes later the track was much faster. It is a shame, but I am still happy with my performance and the team's potential despite various electronic problems. The Barcelona test will be very important, we all have to improve before the beginning of the season: I have to drive better and we have to work better as a team. I am overall delighted with the result and our work.

Alexandre Premat (8th Session 2, 1.20.150): It is quite frustrating for the technicians and mechanics, but I had almost no time in the car before the test and I could not work on my car, so I had to use Nico's car for my qualifying session. His set-up is not fully suited to me so I am therefore not entirely happy, but the most important thing now is to solve the problems on my car. If we can do that I am sure we can be in the Top 5. The main question is to see whether or not we can hold on for an entire race. No one has been able to try yet and we don't know if there is enough reliability, as we only have one test left, in Barcelona, before the beginning of the season.
