José María López took, today at circuit Paul Ricard HTTT, the fastest lap in the last journey of tests for the Formula GP2 before tomorrow's qualifying session and media presentation of the series.
The Argentinian driver of the French team DAMS showed an important jump in the perfonmance of his Dallara - Renault from yesterday when he finished 13th. overall. On this day López stopped the clock on 1:19.546 after 21 laps. "I`m vey happy with the work done today. I was confident that we were quick and we were in the right way", mentionned López.
"We tried different things of set up with the team and we analysed every step. I am aware this is a parcial result and is only the start of a competitive year to come", he stated.
The Italian Gianmaria Bruni, former driver of Minardi on 2004, ended up second palce with the Coloni Motorsport in 1:19.627. Neel Jani, of the Racing Engineering, clocked his best lap on 1:19.637, followed by Nelson A. Piquet, the fastest yesterday, with 1:19.638. Something interesting of today`s times is that the top four places were very thight, less than 0.100s. Heikki Kovalainen, 2004 Nissan World Series champion, completed top five places 1:19.711.
On Wednesday the GP2 activity will come to an end with the qualifying session that will atribute the numbers to the teams 2005 season and the media presentation.
