Alex Premat has set the quickest lap of the day to top the times on day one of testing at Circuit Paul Ricard.
Alexandre Premat has set the quickest timed lap of the first day of testing at Circuit Paul Ricard in the #1 ART Grand Prix car. The Frenchman set a lap of 1:12.887 to narrowly miss out on pipping the quickest ever lap set on the 3D track solution of the circuit in a GP2 series car. That honour still rests with his team-mate Lewis Hamilton who set a 1:22.838 in the afternoon session of the first day of our first 2006 test on February 22nd.
Second quickest in the afternoon session was this morning's quickest driver Jose Maria Lopez who toured the circuit in a time which almost exactly mirrored his morning time, showing how consistent he and the Super Nova team are shaping up to be this year. He was joined in the top three this afternoon by fellow RDD driver Lucas di Grassi, the Brazilian placing his Durango just 0.020 behind the Super Nova.
Nelson Piquet Jr continued the fine form being shown by his Piquet Sports team with the fourth quickest lap, while Adrian Valles gave the Campos Racing team a reason to smile with fifth. Lewis Hamilton ran his ART Grand Prix car to the sixth fastest time, with Franck Perera seventh for Dams. Ernesto Viso ran home eighth for iSport, with Nicolas Lapierre ninth for Arden International and Adam Carroll tenth for Racing Engineering.
