BARWA ADDAX TEAM, GIEDO VAN DER GARDE AND SERGIO PEREZ SATISFIED WITH THE WORK CARRIED OUT IN BARCELONA.
The last series of official tests of the pre-season for the GP2 Series 2010 have taken place at the Spanish circuit of Montmelo. All 12 teams that are competing this season have participated, including Barwa Addax Team, whose drivers, Giedo van der Garde and Sergio Perez have worked tirelessly trying to draw conclusions and look for solutions with the development of the car , with a view to being ready for the up and coming campaign.
Barwa Addax Team has solely concentrated on finding solutions in the aerodynamics of the car, with the intention of getting the ideal set up that offers a guarantee over a number of laps and not just in qualifying over one lap. There will only be two half hour practice sessions for each grand prix, making it impossible to deal with these issues then. One of the important novelties this year is the compound of the new tyres, which means the geometry of the car will be different. It is very important to study the wear and assess the temperature on the tyres, so that the drivers get the maximum performance and at the optimum moment.
Giedo Van der Garde and Sergio Perez have finished the tests very satisfied with the numerous things they have been trying out. They have both had days where they were among the quickest drivers and others where they have dedicated their time to simulating race situations and looking for an ideal race rhythm. It is clear that both drivers were getting more and more comfortable with the car as time went on.
The 2010 season will have 10 events and will coincide with Formula 1 Grand Prix events in Europe. There will be two races each weekend except for Monaco. The season will get under way at the Montmelo circuit between the 7th and 9th May.
