TURVEY SPEARHEADS ANOTHER DOUBLE POINTS FINISH FOR iSPORT

This morning's GP2 Series race at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, was effectively settled within moments of the start. Oliver Turvey made a decent getaway from pole position for iSport, but front-row neighbour Sergio Perez (Barwa Addax) was marginally quicker off the line and duly led into the first corner. Turvey subsequently survived a brush of wheels with Fabio Leimer (Ocean), then settled down to drive a strong, consistent race. He was unable to get back on terms with Perez, but at the same time pulled clear of the pursuing pack. The Englishman went on to finish second -- his 11th consecutive points finish -- and now lies sixth in the points table with one race to go.

Team-mate Davide Valsecchi had a busy race in the group just behind, passing and repassing several rivals. He was on course to record a podium finish until gear selection problems intervened, but he adapted his driving accordingly and went on to take fifth.

Oliver Turvey
"Given our dominance yesterday, I was confident I'd be able to challenge for victory... but motor racing is an unpredictable science. After I'd taken pole position, Sergio Perez said he'd no idea how I was able to summon a lap like that. After watching him beat me today, I've no idea how he was able to summon laps like that! Our car was basically quick and consistent, just as it was yesterday, and nobody else was able to get close, but Sergio seemed to find an extra gear in the race. It's always good to finish on the podium, though, and I have the chance to make up further championship places in tomorrow's seasonal finale, so that will be my goal."

Davide Valsecchi
"The laps after the early Safety Car period were quite lively, with cars running two or three abreast and lots of overtaking taking place, but eventually the race calmed down and I felt I was in good shape. I'd worked my way to the head of the group behind Oliver, but then I started to suffer gear selection problems. On lap 20 I had to use fifth for the longest straight, rather than sixth, and that allowed both Dani Clos and Sam Bird to pass me. The problem was intermittent for a few laps after that, but then seemed to clear. Really, it's a case of what might have been..."
