INAUGURAL GLEN MOTORSPORTS HOMECOMING OPENS 1995 WATKINS GLEN INTERNATIONAL SEASON
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- A brand new event -- the inaugural Glen Motorsports Homecoming presented by South Shore Auto Sports -- will open the 1995 season at Watkins Glen International. The June 9-11 weekend will feature a car show, car corral and swap meet.
The show will be hosted by South Shore Auto Sports of Rochester, N.Y. Setup for the car corral and swap meet will be Friday, June 9, with the car show held on Saturday and Sunday.
Posies, the premier "Right Coast" car builder, will select his top 10 picks in the car show. Additional awards will be presented to winning participants under the age of 25. Judge's Choice awards will be made to a wide variety of vehicles, ranging from street rods and antiques to commercial and emergency vehicles.
While the car show will be held for two days, judging for the following will be held on Saturday, June 10: farm vehicles, trucks/sport trucks, commercial vehicles, big rigs, military vehicles, off-road vehicles, emergency/fire vehicles, 4x4 trucks and other commercial and specialty vehicles. Sunday's judging will be for the following: antiques, street rods, special interest, production cars, '55-'57 Chevrolets, sports cars, Mustang/Shelby, Thunderbirds, race cars, street machines, customs, Corvettes and other passenger vehicles. All vehicles are invited to participate both days.
The entry fee for the car show is $8 per day if purchased by May 16, and $10 afterwards. This includes two daily general admissions.
A separate car corral will be set up for the sale of cars, trucks, trailers and related equipment. The fee for the car corral is $28 by May 16 and $35 afterwards, which includes two weekend general admissions.
The swap meet will be dedicated to automotive parts, accessories, literature, toys and memorabilia. The weekend fee is $43 by May 16 and $50 afterwards, including two weekend general admissions and a 20 by 30 foot space.
The public is invited to participate in the beginning of the newest tradition at the Home of American Road Racing. Daily adult general admission is $5, with children 12 and under admitted free. Infield parking is free, while there will be no overnight camping at the circuit.
