This weekend's Bathurst 24-Hour meeting will be the third time that the Poolrite Great Aussie Ute Race has been held at Mount Panorama, with wins previously going to Ford drivers Damien White and Warren Luff.

With strong contenders from both marques this year, it could come down to who has the better set of headlights, as the V8 BRutes battle out a reverse-grid second race in the dark on Friday night.

Bathurst legend Peter Brock will be having two cracks at his 10 th win on the mountain. Not only is he driving a Holden Monaro in the 24-Hour race, he is also teaming up with his son James to compete in a Holden SS in the V8 BRutes races.

Series personality Charlie "Handlebars" Kovacs is looking to combine youth with experience as he teams up with Holden Young Lions driver Dale Brede.

Newly-crowned Poolrite V8 BRutes Champion Warren Luff has parked his Coopers Pale Ale Ford and will be joining series regular Colin Dunn in another Falcon XR8.

The format for Bathurst differs from the championship rounds, with two-driver races. Drivers will have a race each and share their vehicles for the 10-lap finale on Saturday.

Luff is the current lap record holder at Bathurst, with a time of 2 minutes 42.204 seconds.

Other highlights of the Poolrite Great Aussie Ute Race weekend will be a ute muster for fans' own road utes and a free concert on top of Mount Panorama on Saturday night featuring V8 BRutes driver and award-winning country singer Adam Brand.
