TOP TWO LOCK-OUT FOR TCR DURING SNETTERTON CLIO TEST

Total Control Racing's Sam Tordoff and James Dixon both produced outstanding pace during official ELF Renault Clio Cup testing at Snetterton in Norfolk on Tuesday, 25th May, to end the outing first and second on the timesheets.

Locking out the top two positions for the Wednesbury-based squad, the team-mates pushed each other hard with Tordoff eventually coming out on top by a mere 0.097 seconds. For Clio Cup rookie Dixon, this week's test marked by far his most impressive performance since switching from the world of single-seater racing just over a month ago.

Leeds-based Tordoff produced a lap of 1m17.552 seconds (90.61mph) during the morning to lead the way by three 10ths of a second from Dixon. The 21-year-old then lowered his time by just over 0.2 seconds in the afternoon to round-out the test with a best of 1m17.319 seconds (90.88mph).

Impressing at Silverstone last week during testing at the track's newly configured Grand Prix Circuit, 20-year-old Dixon continued his tremendous progress in a Clio Cup car by lapping in 1m17.878 seconds (90.23mph) during session one.

After the lunchbreak, the Stockbury driver sliced four 10ths of a second off his morning best to end the official test with a quickest lap of 1m17.416 seconds (90.77mph) -- a fantastic effort and a result which will set him up well for the next two rounds of the year at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

"Obviously, we're absolutely delighted with the pace both Sam and James have shown", said TCR team principal Lee Brookes, "Sam headed both sessions well and delivered the kind of performance we know he's capable of. He was pushed hard by James though, we're very impressed with the steps forward he's taking. He's quickly becoming a true front-runner in Clios."

The team's third Clio Cup driver, Mike Robinson, was unable to take part in the test due to prior commitments. TCR will return to the track at Oulton Park Island Circuit in Cheshire next weekend, 5th/6th June, for the seventh and eighth rounds of the ELF Renault Clio Cup and rounds 10 and 11 of the Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup.
