Scotty Cannon Continues Australian Assault - Wins Adelaide Meeting Over Bray!

ADELAIDE, AUS— Things just keep getting better for Scotty Cannon. This weekend past, the five-time IHRA Pro Modified world champion stopped the quickest Aussie doorslammer pilot Victor Bray in the finals at the Adelaide meeting. Cannon has won two meetings thus far since he began the tour. Cannon, who is planning to bring his ‘53 Studebaker back to the United States at the end of the campaign, ran a 6.307/217.97 to nab the win over Bray’s entry that wounded the engine and shook the tires. Earlier in the evening, Bray had set the ANDRA Top Doorslammer elapsed time record with a 6.282. Cannon had nothing but praise for his final round foe. “Victor is a good friend and a class act,” explained Cannon. “He has worked well with us while we have been down here and has enabled us to be competitive. I may be in the Winner’s Circle now, but Victor will be here soon. You can count on that.”
