There was some concern that this event would be called the slush cross with the weekend temperatures moving in to the 50? area of the old thermometer. Many of the estimated 3000 race fans could been seen in tee shirts in the grandstands! However the WSA crew in conjunction with the MIS crew, kept the ? mile track in well groomed condition for two days of racing.

The top dogs, Pro Open saw Steve Taylor of Prince George British Columbia lead from a hole shot at the start and was never challenged by his teammate Blair Morgan of Prince Albert Saskatchewan, who finished 2nd. In the matinee event for Pro Stock, Tomi Ahmasalo of Finland took the victory followed by Dennis Eckstrom of Duluth Mn.

The MIS crew started stockpiling snow for this event about a month and half ago. Over 14,000 cubic yards of snow was moved from the grounds to the Tri Oval area over the course of 5 days prior to the event. From Friday on, WSA took over and further pushed the snow around to make a mini oval with jumps and moguls. Racing action was non stop, keeping the spectators well entertained with the rapid pace of heat racing among the various classes of snowmobiles.
