The MSA has confirmed that Steve Stringwell has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the MSA Judicial Panel and will sit on the Motor Sports Council.

Steve has more than 40 years' worth of experience in motor sport, having started as a marshal in 1967, before spending 15 years competing in club and international rallies. He became an MSA Steward in 1986 and has since worked across the World Touring Car Championship, European Touring Car Championship, GP2 Series, World Series by Renault and the British Rally Championship.

He has been Permanent Chairman of the Stewards for Porsche Supercup, A1GP and the British Touring Car Championship, as well as being Chairman of the Support Race Stewards at the British Grand Prix from 2005 to 2009. In 2003, he joined the Motor Sports Council's National Court.

Away from motor sport Steve is a Justice of the Peace, was appointed as magistrate to the Leeds Bench in 1991 and sits at Leeds Crown Court in the Court of Appeal. He has been a member of the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Panel and Drugs Panel.

"It is a great honour for me to take up this role," said Steve at his first meeting as Chairman of the panel last month. "Maintaining a level playing field is one of the great rules of sport and I look forward to continuing the MSA's excellent record in this respect. I am mindful that I am following some illustrious predecessors in this position and I will make every effort to maintain their great work."
