Skip Barber Racing, the world's largest racing and driving school, has announced the relocation of its western headquarters from Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma California to the renowned Laguna Seca Raceway, on California's Monterey Peninsula. The Dodge-sponsored school was awarded the Laguna Seca concession in December after a favorable vote by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors. The official contract with the county and the race track was signed last week. Skip Barber Racing and Driving School programs will begin July 1, coinciding with the repaving and extension of the race track. "This is a dream come true" said school founder and president Skip Barber. "I love this place. We are extremely fortunate to now have the best race tracks in each region of the country as our base locations. Laguna Seca joins Lime Rock Park Connecticut in the East, Road America, Elkhart Lake Wisconsin, in the Midwest, and Sebring Florida as our newest base location." Barber add, "Our new partnership with Laguna Seca provides us with more 'in season' days and weekends needed to run racing and driving schools, as well as our Western Formula Dodge Race Series championship. The recently enlarged paddock provides plenty of room for the Dodge/ Skip Barber Driving School Dodge Vipers to slither around." The Skip Barber Racing School, in operation since 1975, will offer it's full complement of racing and driving programs year round at the Monterey facility. These programs include the Dodge/Skip Barber Driving School, the Skip Barber Racing School, which uses 2 liter Formula Dodge race cars, Skip Barber Advanced Activities, and Corporate and Group driving programs. Skip Barber Racing will continue to offer racing and driving programs at Sears Point Raceway through 1997.
