The T.C. 2000 disputed the twelf race of the year in the unknow circuit of San Rafael, province of Mendoza.
Finally and after a lots of frustations during this season in the category, Guillermo Ortelli (Honda Civic / HRA) won after six years. The three times champion of T.C. shared the podium with Norberto Fontana (Toyota Corolla / TTA) and Marcelo Bugliotti (Honda Civic / Pro Racing).
Like in the others eleven races of 2002 Ortelli arrived to San Rafael with the expectative of get the victory. Also like in others fourth qualifies Ortelli took the pole position. Also like he did in others five times this year he won his series. Perhaps the only difference between this race and the others since he came back in 2001 is that after the final race the winner was Guillermo Ortelli. This shows how much Ortelli have to waited until get his first victory with Honda. Like I said before he took the pole on saturday without any problem. Like I said before he confortably won his series. Like I didn`t say before he started the race from the best position. During the 50 laps of race he was the first always with Fontana behind. No doubt. Ortelli was fantastic in the weekend of San Rafael. Like in others this season, but this time he won.
Fontana arrived to this competition with almost the obligation of win. It was clearly impossible with the dominium of Ortelli, so the second position for the ex-champion of the German Formula 3 is not that bad. The only driver faster than Fontana during the activity in San Rafael was Ortelli. Fontana finished second in the qualify session of saturday. Only 0,101s behind the poleman. On sunday morning the TTA driver won his series followed by Nelson García (Ford Escort / Berta Motorsport) and J.M. Silva (Honda Civic / HRA). In spite of this very good job in the series, it wasn`t enough to beat Ortelli anf get the best position for the final race. Norberto started the race knowing that it would be very difficult to pass Ortelli. However Fontana tried in the first part of the race follow the Honda Civic number 6, but it was just impossible. Fontana, who was in Europe this week testing and Opel Astra of DTM in Albacete, Spain, finished second. An important result for keep fighting the championship.
A very intelligent race completed Marcelo Bugliotti, who won two times this year in San Juan and Alta Gracia. Bugliotti started the competition eighth after finished fourth in his series. Already in the secon lap he was sixth trying to pass the 2001 champion, Gabriel Ponce de León (Ford Focus / Berta Motorsport). The Pro Racing driver took care very well of the tyres in a very abrassive circuit and in the last ten laps he advance from the seventh position to third. A fantastic job for him who now is four in the tournament.
Good job for Ponce de León who finished fourth after fight all the race with Esteban Tuero (Honda Civic / HRA), Daniel Cingolani (Honda Civic / Pro Racing) and Nelson García, who quit the race with a tyre problem. Tuero and Cingolani also left the race in lap 36 with a friction between them. A pity for both because they really want a good result here.
In the fight for the championship, Martínez, finished sixth, keep leading with 104 points now followed by his teammate Fontana with 90 and J. M. Silva with 89.
This was the fourth victory for Ortelli in T.C. 2000. The last was in Rafaela in December 21st. 1997.
The next race of the category will be in November 24th. in Pigue.
