Martínez gave the victory for Toyota at San Luis
San Luis, november 2nd.- Omar Martínez won the TC 2000 race at San Luis today at the wheel of one of Toyota Team Argentina's Corollas. This was the first overall success of this driver so far and he crossed the chequered flag in an event which was stopped 4 laps before the end.
Mayhem was caused in a shunt between some drivers fighting for third (Juan Pablo Satorra, Fabián Yannantuoni and Christian Ledesma). Consequently, marshals decided results as one lap before the red flag and this led Martínez and chaser Gabriel Furlán (second in his Mitsubishi after winning one of the morning short races) to be followed by Daniel Cingolani, a former sports champion who returned here for this last part of the season with a private Chevrolet Astra. Cingolani climbed to podium despite qualifying 24th yesterday and making a good and consistent job all along the day on Sunday.
Juan Manuel Silva (Honda Civic) was then fourth, with the Ford Escort of Franco Lorenzatti fifth in his best ever result, Gabriel Ponce de León (Ford Focus) sixth, Satorra seventh (Escort), Ledesma (Astra), Chilean Julio Infante (Civic) and "Rex" (Lancer).
Only 13 drivers made it to the finish. Ponce de León has 107 points after 12 rounds and is ahead of Silva (88), Fontana (85) and Walter Hernández (80).
Next race will be held at Cordoba`s city track, the Oscar Cabalén Raceway on november 23.
