(Jan. 19, 2000) NASCAR Winston West driver Sammy Potashnick, has announced that he will be teaming up with Walker Evans Racing for the 2000 NASCAR Winston West Series. Driving for SP Racing last season, Potashnick finished ninth in the 1999 NASCAR Winston West Series points as a rookie driver. Walker Evans Racing finished up last year's series with a thirteenth-place points finish, also with a rookie driver. With both sides of the new team gaining experience from last season, they have an extremely positive outlook for the 2000 season.
"I'm really looking forward to this new team coming together. Walker Evans has been in racing for years and has made a real name for himself as an off road racer. He has a very solid race team and I really hope that this new combination makes it even stronger. Walker Evans Racing put together some great stuff last season, especially speed way cars, so I'm very excited about being a part of that this year. We're all looking forward to trying to bring home the Winston West championship," Potashnick says.
The new team will start off the 2000 NASCAR Winston West Series with the first event at Phoenix International Raceway, tentatively scheduled for March 18.
