VIP Driver Dirk Muller Wins on the Nurburgring - Oliver Mathai Second

At the fourth round of the Porsche Pirelli SuperCup, invited VIP driver, Dirk Muller (D), drove a tidy race to become the fourth guest driver to win the series eight-year history. Behind Muller in second was triple and reigning vice champion Oliver Mathai (D), with current points leader and reigning champion, Patrick Huisman (NL) putting on the pressure for third.

Dirk Muller (D, winner and fastest lap): "Oliver Mathai managed to get his front tyres to the right temperature quickly, but as soon as my tyres were warmed up I attacked and overtook him. When I saw that he was busy defending his position from two other competitors, I put in three qualifying laps and pulled away from the rest of the field."

Oliver Mathai (D, second): "I had a fantastic start, but then had to fend Patrick off. It worked. I didn't attempt to chase Dirk Muller because I wasn't prepared to take the risk, and I knew as guest driver he wasn't eligible for points anyway, I'm very happy with this result."

Patrick Huisman (NL, third): "I had quite a battle on my hands with young Jorg Bergmeister. Normally he is a real gentleman, but I think someone gave him a few tips today, because he drove quite assertively. Still I've managed to increase my points lead and so I'm pleased."

Stephane Ortelli (MC, pole setter, 11th position): "After crashing yesterday in the last lap of qualifying, our mechanics worked through the night to repair the car in time. I had a bad start and was shunted in the first corner by another competitor and lost 12 places. I'm dis- appointed because I really wanted a podium finish as a thank you to my team."
