The long-awaited showdown between Anthony Davidson and James Courtney came to a dramatic head in Round 4 of the Formula Ford Zetec Championship at Thruxton on Bank Holiday Monday. The two drivers dominated the race until the last half of the last lap when a back-marker spun, sending Davidson and Courtney onto the grass to 7th and 12th respectively.

Davidson was, once again, the fastest Mygale driver in his BIC sponsored car and claimed 1st place by taking Courtney in a decisive move around the outside into Thruxton's tight chicane on lap 6. He repeated the move on lap 9 after Courtney had towed past on the 150mph sweepers.

Anthony was in 1st place for 5 laps before Courtney retook the lead with 4 laps to go. Entering the last lap just 0.4 seconds behind, Davidson was towing up behind Courtney when the back-marker incident occurred.

After the race Anthony was very upbeat, "I was very comfortable in the lead and when I was behind Courtney. I was planning an outbraking move into the chicane on the last lap when we came upon the back- marker who was sideways in the middle of the track. I'm just happy not to have had a huge crash!"
