We've sure had our share of mechanical failures this season. In Colorado, after fixing a battery problem the car was running like a rocket until a belt, which drives the oil pump, broke. In the Terre Haute race, a mag quit on us.
At Putnamville last Saturday, we qualified 8th out of 35 cars, then missed the transfer spot by one place in our heat race. We came back and finished in first place to win the semi feature, and into the feature. Starting towards the back, we moved up to the 4th spot, got caught in the cushion and spun out, putting us to the back of the pack in 22nd position. Still determined, we continued to move up in the 5th spot, when there was an accident right in front of me and I had nowhere to go. No damage to me, but the car took a good blow. We finished in 15th place. With a bent frame, we are working to get it fixed before the race at 16th Street this Saturday night.
With all of these mechanical glitches, we've been unable to get a lot of good laps in recently. We are looking forward to finishing on the podium here in the Midwest before heading to Los Angeles and Sacramento in October.
