RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY NAMES MARYLAUREL WILKS VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING

RICHMOND, VA (December 15, 2009) -- Richmond International Raceway President Doug Fritz announced today the addition of Marylaurel (Lauri) Wilks as Vice President of Marketing for America's Premier Short Track.

In her new role at Richmond International Raceway, Wilks will oversee all aspects of the Marketing, Advertising and Promotions, Public Relations and Ticketing departments.

"I am so excited to be joining one of the best short tracks on the circuit," said Wilks. "Richmond International Raceway puts together great promotions and marketing strategies and I'm looking forward to helping continue that success and make it the best race track in the country."

Wilks is best known in the NASCAR industry for her position as Executive Vice President of Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, overseeing the speedway's executive team and administration of the facility's day-to-day operations including tickets, finance, legal, guest services and logistics, events, communications, operations and development. Wilks also served as Vice President of Communications and Investor Relations for Speedway Motorsports, Inc.

"Lauri brings tremendous experience and great industry knowledge and relationships as she assumes her new role. We're excited to have her join us to help keep Richmond International Raceway on the top of the list as a favorite track for fans and the drivers."

Most recently, Wilks served as President for her own consulting business and assisted Wray Ward in its bid to become the advertising agency of record for the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

A native of Jackson, Michigan, Wilks earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science Cum Laude from Cedar Crews College and her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law.

Wilks will assume her new role at Richmond International Raceway on January 7, 2010.

Richmond International Raceway's 2010 season begins with the NASCAR Doubleheader weekend April 30 -- May 1. Tickets for the Friday, April 30 NASCAR Nationwide Series race, as well as the Saturday, May 1 Crown Royal 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will go on sale to the public on Saturday, January 9. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission seating on Friday night. Friday's tickets start at $30 and include NASCAR Nationwide Series practice and qualifying, as well as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice and Wawa Pole Qualifying for the Crown Royal 400. Tickets for Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race start at $40. Tickets for both nights can be purchased starting Saturday, January 9 at www.rir.com, 866-455-RACE (7223) or at the Richmond International Raceway ticket office at the corner of Laburnum Avenue and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike.
