The Toyota Team Argentina driver Norberto Fontana won in the second race of the T.C. 2000 in Río Cuarto, Córdoba.
The journey was stained of black because of the death of Matías Rico in the Formula Renault series, that since this year share the weekend with the T.C. 2000. The young driver died as a consequence of the hits after an accident produced in the start of the race.
Rico, who born in the city of Necochea 19 years ago, went out of the track in the start, after this he crossed the track with the car uncontrolled when the rest of the competitors were in full acceleration, unfortunately he was hit by Matías Milla in the right side of his car in approximate 160 km.. Quickly he was transfered to a hospital but he pass away because of the serious wounds in his body.
The activity of the Formula Renault, Formula Super Renault and Copa Megane was suspended, while the directors of the T.C. 2000 decided to continue with the race in spite of that nobody want to race today, but rules are rules and the T.C. 200 run his second race of the year and this was what happened.
Gabriel Furlán (Mitsubishi) who made the pole on Saturday, won the first series of the morning, he was followed by Hernández (Ford), Ponce de León (Ford), Ortelli (Honda), etc....
The second series was won by Norberto Fontana (Toyota) followed by Tuero (Honda), Martínez (Honda), Cingolani (Honda), etc....
After the two series, Gabriel Furlán start in the first place for the final race, second was Fontana and then were Hernández, Tuero, Ponce de León, Martínez, etc.
In the start, Fontana took the first place. After ten laps Tuero start to push and he passed Hernández. A couple of laps later the ex-F1 passed Furlán for the second place. Furlán was in problems with the 6th. gear but he could hold the pressure of the two Fords Focus of Hernández and Ponce de León.
Marcelo Bugliotti (Honda), who stared in the back made a fantastic recovery until the 7th. position.
After 20 laps Fontana was leading near followed by Tuero. In lap 25 Ortelli, who was eight and Osvaldo López (Alfa Romeo) who was fourteen, both quit the race with mechanics problems.
In the last laps Estaban Tuero tried to ``catch`` Fontana but it was impossible for him
After 40 laps, Norberto Fontana (Toyota) won his third in fifteen races in the Turismo Competición 2000. Also with this result, Tuero cut a bath squall of half last year championship without finish in the points.
