Pikes Peak, Co.- Formula de las Americas (former Pan-American Indy Lights), ran for the first time on the Pikes Peak International Raceway in preparation for Round 4, which will be held on May 21. The above Series will share the event with Nascar Craftsman Truck Series and Nascar Featherlite Southwest Series.

Fifteen drivers participated in the first practice and most of them were rookies in ovals. Dupont driver Oswaldo Negri Jr. was fastest with a lap time of 24.67 seconds, followed by reigning champion Waldemar Coronas (24.86 seconds) and Carusi Line driver Cesar Jimenez was third (24.95 seconds).

This Friday, again the drivers participating in the Formula de las Americas Championship will practice on this one-mile circuit in the morning.
