21 year old Paul Sammin, from Louisburgh, has been shortlisted for the Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year Award. In his debut season in Formula Europa, Paul finished third in Ireland's premier single-seater race series. During the season, the Mayo & District Motorsport Club driver was nominated as Young Driver of the Month in August for his efforts. The other two drivers on the short list are Michael Devaney (Dublin) and Charlie Donnelly (Naas).

The overall winner who will receive the Dunlop Sexton Award and the title of Young Racing Driver of the Year also wins a support package of $25,000 in both cash and training at the Derek Daly Racing School in the US. The overall winner will be announced at the Alfa Romeo sponsored Awards of Excellence in Irish Motorsport launch scheduled for 30th November in Dublin at the Westbury Hotel.

The Young Racing Driver of the Year is supported by Irish Dunlop, Motorsport Ireland and the Irish Sports Council.
