PATRICK HUISMAN SECOND AT SILVERSTONE!

SILVERSTONE, 08 JULY 2007 - Patrick Huisman finished an excellent second during the sixth round of the Mobil1 Porsche Supercup at Silverstone. The number 11 car driver started from third and only had to let go Frenchman Nicolas Armindo when the flag fell. Huisman is currently fourth in the championship with 74 points.

FREE PRACTICE + QUALIFYING:

The sole practice of the weekend took place on Friday afternoon under very nice circumstances. Huisman could be found at the front during the entire session. With his white-green livered Porsche he managed to end free practice in fourth place. During qualifying Huisman was quick as well and ended the session in fourth with a best lap of 1:52.100. After qualifying Richard Westbrook was disqualified after a mechanic drove his Porsche from the pit lane to the paddock and had to start the race at the back of the grid. Huisman automatically won a position and started from third. Since the drivers have to set a time in their first lap, Huisman was not entirely happy being sent on his way with too many petrol.

RACE:

After the lights turned green Huisman made an impressive start. The Dutchman passed Christian Menzel on the outside and took second place. Huisman tried to create a gap between him and the German but the last one had other plans. The Tolimit Motorsport driver fought back hard and Huisman had his hands full keeping Menzel behind him. The gap to pole sitter Nicolas Armindo remained the same. After fourteen laps Huisman passed the checkered flag in second place. After Barcelona and Monaco it was already his third podium of the season!

PATRICK HUISMAN:

"I am happy with second place. Nicolas Armindo was too quick today since I was only able to follow him. I drove an excellent race and scored valuable points. In the championship table I came a bit closer to the top three. We are hoping to finally test at the Nurburgring this week. There we will do some race simulations and collect valuable data in order to be more competitive. I am looking forward to the next race at the Nurburgring (20-22 July) where we will go for the win again!"
