The battle between Opel and Honda power continues at the top of the German Formula 3 Championship, with Italy's Giorgio Pantano (Dallara/Opel) extending his lead over Alexander Mueller (Dallara/Honda) thanks to a win and a second place at the latest 15th and 16th rounds at Oschersleben circuit in Germany at the weekend.

Pantano won the Saturday 22-lap race with ease over Stefan Muecke with Pierre Kaffer third, why Mueller struggled down in fifth place and couldn't match the pace of the Italian who also took the fastest race lap in his Opel Team KMS car.

Sunday's 20-lap race saw a titanic battle between the first four cars, won by Patrick Friesacher (Dallara/Opel) to claim sixth place in the points standings, but Pantano's measured drive to second extended his championship lead as rival Mueller finished a lowly sixth. Third podium place went to Kaffer who drove his Dallara/Opel to take the fastest lap.
