Omar Martinez took in San Luis his first victory of the season. After a couple of frustations in the lasts races: in Trelew an engine problem stoped him when he was leading and in La Plata he was second when Marcos Di Palma shoved his car out of the track. However San Luis was the perfect weekend that he was waiting. Martinez held the pression of the second finisher, Ernesto Bessone, Dodge, during the 50 minutes of competition. The podium was completed by other Ford driver, Walter Hernandez, an amazing result for the 1993 champion.

All the race was very boring with almost no emotions in a circuit without chances of pass another car.

This was the sixteenth victory of Martinez in T.C. after 133 races in the category. The last victory for Martinez was on July 23th. 2002 in Nueve de Julio, with this same car.

The 22 laps to the circuit of 4.612 m. were all the same monotone. This is what the final result shows, where the three drivers of the podium are the same three that start the competition in the first three places. Despite the dominium of Martinez and Bessone, the big reason of this not interesting race is the new circuit, with curves that have no chance to pass another competitor.

The Pace Car stoped the race in three differents times which made the competition much more bored.

Martinez led all the race, always with Bessone very close. Bessone is now third in the championship and this second place is very important to think in a victory the next race in Buenos Aires. Bessone doesn`t win since July 2001in Balcarce.

Hernandez drove a clean and smooth race taking his first podium since the seaon closer of the 1996 season. ¨I really nedded this result¨, said Walter in the press conference after the race.

The fourth finisher was Alejandro Occhionero with the Ford. With the fifth place in La Plata and this race result, Occhionero keep adding points to the championship where he is 7th.

The young driver Mariano Altuna did a fantastic race with the Ford. The man who became in the youngest driver to take a victory in T.C. 2000 in 1999, finished fifth in his fifth competition in Turismo Carretera and the first for him this season.

It wasn`t a good day for the Chevrolet fans. Omar Tanoni and J. L. Di Palma were the best ¨Chevys¨ finishing seventh and eigth. While the leaders in the championship Christian Ledesma and Guillermo Ortelli, both with Chevrolet, had a horrible sunday.

Ledesma couldn`t iniciate the final race bacause of a friction with M. Di Palma during the qualifying race. Ortelli had also problems in the qualyfing race. Luis Minervino, Chevrolet, hit him in the first curve. The championship started the final race 34th. and he finished 24th. With this result Ortelli will have 30kg. less of ballast for the next competition.

The winner of the last race and third in the championship until sunday, Diego Aventin had an engine problem in his Ford and he couldn`t start the final competition.

After five rounds, Ledesma leads the championship with 77 points, followed by Ortelli, 67p., Bessone 59,50, Aventin 57,50 and Martinez 49.

The next race of the Turismo Carretera Championship will be next May 11th. in the circuit of Buenos Aires.
