Debut in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup
"I will give my very best to justify this call-up!"
Norbert Siedler has been fighting for his breakthrough as a professional driver for years. And finally this modern fairy tale of 1001 night starts to becoming reality in the desert of Sakhir, as the 25 year old Austrian is making his debut in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup during the Golf Air Formula 1 Grand Prix of Bahrain:
Q: A few weeks ago everything looked like if International Formula Master would be your first choice for 2008. And now suddenly you are part of a professional programme with VELTINS MRS Racing that makes you racing in front of Formula 1 crowds...
A: "I am very thankful for this opportunity and, needless to say, I will give my very best to justify my call-up. I have followed the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup for years but not just because they are racing at the European F1 Grand Prix. It is a very competitive race category and besides that I am also a fan of the brand Porsche."
Q: Even if you are one of the quickest Formula drivers in Europe, what do you think about the risk of having very little experience with this car that is completely different to a single seater?
A: "As a racer, you should not think too much about the risks and after all I am already excited about adapting my driving style to this very special race car. Yes, it is completely different, but it is still fun to drive."
Q: So what are your goals for your first year in the strongest brands cup in the world?
A: "Let's see where we are in the first three races and then define a goal. At least I can feel that there is still 20 percent space for improvements on my side, as I am right in the middle of a learning process."
Q: People expect you to race for ADM Motorsport in the International Formula Master, as an additional programme. Is that still an option for you?
A: "Absolutely and I really believe that I will need formula racing to keep my reflexes sharp."
Thanks and good luck for 2008!
