In a sunny day the T.C. 2000 disputed its eleventh race of the year with 40000 persons presents.
A fantastic race of the young driver of only 21 years, Nicolás Vuyovich (Honda Civic / Alisi Racing) who yesterday got his first victory in the category in his fifth competition. Vuyovich shared the podium with Guillermo Ortelli (Honda Civic / HRA) and the champion Gabriel Ponce de León (Ford Focus / Berta Motorsport).
In spite of his many championships in karts, his championship in the Clase 2 of Turismo Nacional in 2000, another one almost sure in the Clase 3 this season and the third position in the qualifying of his second race in T.C. 2000, the name Nicolás Vuyovich was unknow for many of the 40000 people presents in the circuit of Buenos Aires last sunday. No doubt that after this fantastic victory, the first also for the team, the things will change for ¨Nico¨, who a few weeks ago tested a British Formula 3 car at the Pembrey track where after one day with the car he marked a lap 8/10 more than the best lap of James Coutney, subchampion and one of the test drivers of Jaguar in F1. ¨I could be faster, but they didn`t put the car as I wanted it¨ said Vuyovich when he came back to Argentina.
In the qualifing session of saturday, Ponce de León marked the pole position, followed by Norberto Fontana (Toyota Corolla / TTA) and Guillermo Ortelli. Vuyovich finished eleventh with his Honda.
In the first series disputed sunday morning a mistake of Ponce de León put him the back for the final race. Ortelli won this series followed by a great job of Vuyovich who in the six laps of the series passed three cars. The third finisher was Juan Manuel Silva (Honda Civic / HRA).
The second series was confortably won by Omar Martínez (Toyota Corolla / TTA) followed by Norberto Fontana (Toyota Corolla / TTA) and Daniel Cingolani (Honda Civic / Pro Racing).
At one o` clock the final race started with Ortelli in first position because he won the fastest series and Martínez in second place. In the first lap Ortelli was leading near followed by Vuyovich. Martínez was fourth complicated with the 100kg. of ballast in his Toyota after the victory in Paraná. In a brilliant maneuver with friction included Cingolani passed Fontana for the fourth position. After five laps Vuyovich passed Ortelli in the first curve. Nicolás never left the lead until the end in spite of the pressure of Ortelli during almost 35 laps. A lap later because of the accident of Esteban Tuero (Honda Civic / HRA) the Pace Car entered for four laps. In the restart Cingolani was already third fighting with Voyovich and Ortelli, while Silva who started fifth was losing positions in the track. Nelson García (Ford Escort / Berta Motorsport) after started seventh passed Fontana in lap fifteen for the fifth position. Ponce de León who started the race twenty-third because of his mistake in the series was eighth with the Ford Focus trying to advance more positions. Cingolani was third but the problems appeared in his Honda Civic which made him lost positions until finished nineteenth a minute behind the winner. García took the third position behind Ortelli with the eyes opens for any possible problem between the leaders. The fight for the leadership with Ortelli and Vuyovich never stoped in the 39 laps of competition. Fontana who was fifth quit in lap 29 with problems in the clutch of the Toyota Corolla.
After 39 laps with 33º of temperature and a lot more in the cars finished the race with victory for Nicolás Vuyovich followed like all the competition by Ortelli.
Great result for Martínez with a fifth place bacause now he leads the championship with 98 points, 17 over Silva who finished eighth. Fontana is third with 75.
The next round of T.C. 2000 will be in November 3th. in San Rafael, Mendoza.
