CRASH LEAVES REARDON IN 26TH
A crash to Daniel Reardon during the MX1 qualifying session has left the Aussie lingering towards the back of the field at the 2006 Motocross of Nations in Winchester.
Reardon started brightly moving up to 17th overall at the start, and maintained that position for the first six minutes of the 20-minute qualifying session.
But his good early work came undone when he suffered a crash that pushed him back in the field to 28th, where he was never really able to recover from.
Reardon ended the session in 26th overall, and speaking after he returned to the Australian quarters a dejected Reardon was reluctant to elaborate on exactly what had gone wrong.
"I don't know -- I just struggled out there and had a crash and was nowhere pretty much," he said.
"I just lost the front end going down a hill, but there's not much you can do about it."
American James Stewart came first in the qualifying session, closely followed by crowd favourite, Belgian Stefan Everts.
Home-town hope Billy McKenzie put in a stunning ride to finish qualifying in third, while Kiwi Josh Coppins had a wonderful session to finish in fourth.
