AUSSIES MAINTAIN 11TH

Australia remains in 11th place at the 2006 Motocross of Nations, after Cheyne Boyd and Brett Metcalfe finished in 24th and 25th places respectively in the second race.

After a bright start which saw the Australian move as high as eighth overall, both riders suffered falls which relegated the team back to 14th.

But the Aussie's never say die attitude came through once more as both riders pushed through the field to get the team back around the 10th overall mark that they had been hoping for.

Boyd was riding well before overcommitting on a jump, which saw him lose some ground.

But Australia's Open class rider is confident that himself and Daniel Reardon can produce something special in the final race.

"For sure my start was good and I was in a pretty good position, but I made a big mistake," Boyd said.

"I didn't crash, but I've never scared myself so hard -- it was one of the biggest jumps I have ever done and I just went through the fence and lost a lot of position.

"I re-grouped and tried not to panic, and I think we can do well in the last race and without mistakes and crash-free when can certainly improve on our position."

The final race will begin at 4:08pm local time.
