Porsche-Pirelli-SuperCup - 3rd Round at the French Grand Prix -------------------------------------------------------------

First Win of the Season for Dutchman Patrick Huisman

Magny-Cours. Patrick Huisman (Manthey Racing) from the Netherlands won the third of nine Porsche Pirelli SuperCup rounds by a narrow margin after 15 laps on the dry 4.25 km Grand Prix circuit of Magny-Cours. Within the first three laps Huisman fought his way from fourth starting position to the lead which he didn't relinquish until the finish. During the final three laps Huisman came under increasing pressure from Ober- bayern Motorsport competitors Patrick Simon (D) and Jean-Pierre Malcher (F). A thrilled Huisman said after the finish: "My car went perfectly today, especially in the fast corners, but still it was incredibly difficult to hold the other two behind me."

Points' leader Patrick Simon was content with his second place: "I was able to extend my points lead a fraction, and I would like to meet my team mate Jean-Pierre more often on the podium." Jean-Pierre Malcher, who had started the race on pole, commented on his third place: "I drove very carefully today, not wanting to take any chances after spinning during the first round in Imola. Ididn't want to make a mistake."

Oliver Mathai from Germany (Walker Gillet - Manthey Racing) crossed the finish line fifth behind Frenchman Dominique Dupuy (DDO). Dupuy now ranks second in the world's fastest one-make cup ahead of his German competitor.

RTL-VIP driver Alain Ferte delighted home crowds by finishing sixth amongst the Porsche-Pirelli-SuperCup specialists and set the fastest race lap along the way (1:48.688 mins averaging 140.769 kph). The second RTL celebrity pilot, ski world cup winner Luc Alphand, gave fans a fine performance starting 22nd on the grid and weaving his way up to 15th place. Out of 26 starters, 22 cars finished the race. The next round of the Porsche-Pirelli-SuperCup is at the British Grand Prix on 13 July.
